Day 1 : Ashgabat

  1. Airport- Ashgabat

  2. Transfer to hotel

  3. Night in Ashgabat

 

Sightseeing in Ashgabat: visiting the parks and squares of the capital, Ertogrul Ghazi mosque, the archeological site Nisa (The ruins have mud brick remains of fortifications and palaces, temples, ceremony hall, treasury building. It covers the remains of Parthian civilization, what combined the traditional art and culture with Hellenistic and Roman elements.

 

*After sunset, we can drive to a high point of the capital where you can take panoramic photos of Ashgabat

 

Day 2: Nokhur            

  1. Ashgabat - Nokhur

  2. Visit city hippodrome to see Akhal Teke horse races (subject to availability) 

  3. Drive to Tolkuchka bazaar

  4. Visit. En route to Kov Ata cave lake. Visit underground lake

  5. Continue drive to Kopet Dag mountains. Arrive in Nokhur village

  6. Visit village and stay at local home 

  7. Have cultural exchange with Nokhuri people

  8. Night in Nokhur

 

Day 3: Ashgabat

  1. Nokhur – Ashgabat

  2. Visit local sites in mountains 

  3. Drive to Ashgabat

  4. Visit Geok Depe mosque along the route

  5. Arrive in Ashgabat 

  6. Visit history museum of Turkmenistan (former National museum of Turkmenistan)

 

Day 4: Darvaza ('Gates to Hell')

  1. Ashgabat - Darvaza

  2. Free program in the morning 

  3. At 12:00 Drive to Darvaza

  4. Stop for photos in the desert/ or villages along the route

  5. Arrive & start to visit gas craters (first full of water, second – with mud at the bottom, in both gas can be seen bubbling through it) 

  6. Venture in the desert and arrive at Darvaza fire gas crater, see it after sunset 

  7. Camping overnight in tent

 

Day 5 : Dashoguz

  1. Darvaza- Kunya Urgench- Dashoguz

  2. Drive to Kunya Urgench historical site

    1. (“Kunya Urgench” contains the survived monuments: mausoleums of Il Arslan 12th century, Sultan Tekesh 12th century, Turebeck Khanym 14th century, Najm addin Cubra 14th and Sultan Ali 16th century, minaret of Kutluk Timur 14th century (probably started in 11th ) 62 meters high, the tallest old brick construction in central Asia.  Sightseeing.

  3. Continue drive to Dashoguz

  4. Night in Dashoguz

 

Day 6: Mary

           

  1. Dashoguz - Mary - Merv

  2. Flight to Mary

  3. Drive to Merv historical site (One of the famous cities on the ancient Silk Road, having more 2500 years of history, declared a World heritage site from 1999) 

  4. Night in Mary

 

Day 7: Ashgabat

 

  1. Mary - Gonur -  Mary- Ashgabat

  2. Gonur Depe (Turkmen name) site discovered to be the most impressive and called by the head of Russian archeological expedition  – now it can been seen in history museum in Mary and  in the National museum of history in Ashgabat

  3. Return to Mary.

  4. Flight to Ashgabat

  5. Night in Ashgabat

 

*The road comes through the agricultural area of the Mary region and finally enters the Karakum desert

 

 

Day 8: Departure

  1. Ashgabat- airport

  2. Transfer to airport as per flight time - End of tour
