Current Situation in Turkmenistan

Turkmenistan has not recorded any confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of December 7. As the media is highly controlled by the government, it is difficult to verify statistics. However, a number of suspected cases have been reported in the country throughout the various stages of the ongoing pandemic.

Entry and Exit Requirements

  • Borders are currently closed for international travelers.

  • Turkmenistan Airlines has extended the suspension of flights until December 31, 2020. This is likely to be further extended into 2021.

Movement Restrictions

  • Turkmenistan has put in place a number of restrictions on movement.

  • International points of entry are closed for foreign nationals.

  • The likelihood of foreign nationals accessing local COVID-19 testing is low.

  • Increased police enforcement of social distancing violations has been reported in recent weeks.
