Day 1: Arrival to Abkhazia

Day 2: Sukhum & New Athos

  1. Bagrat’s Castle

    1. Bagrat's Castle is a ruined medieval castle near Sukhumi, Abkhazia, close to the Black Sea coast. It is named after the Georgian king Bagrat, either Bagrat III or Bagrat IV, and traditionally dated to the late 10th or 11th century

  2. Drive to New Athos Monastery 

    1. New Athos Monastery is a monastery in New Athos, municipality of Gudauta, founded in 1875 by monks who came from the St. Panteleimon Monastery in Mount Athos, Greece. They founded the church of St. Panteleimon on Mount Iveria, on the territory of present New Athos

  3. Anacopia Fortress

    1. Anacopia Fortress is an ancient military citadel in New Athos in the Russian Abkhazia, located some 22 km by road along the coast from Sukhumi. The site, approximately 450 × 150 meters in extent, is located a mile or so inland, at the top of the Iverian Mountain

  4. Night in Sukhum

    1. Sukhum or Sukhumi is a city on the Black Sea coast. It is the capital of the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia, which has controlled it since the 1992-93 war in Abkhazia


Day 3: Lake Ritsa & Gagra

  1. Lake Ritsa

    1. Lake Ritsa is a lake in the Caucasus Mountains, in the north-western part of Abkhazia, surrounded by mixed mountain forests and subalpine meadows. The road from the Black Sea coast was built in 1936. The resort of Avadhara lies to the north of the lake

  2. Yupshara Canyon 

  3. Gagra

    1. Gagra is a town in Abkhazia, sprawling for 5 km on the northeast coast of the Black Sea, at the foot of the Caucasus Mountains. Its subtropical climate made Gagra a popular health resort in Imperial Russian and Soviet times

  4. Pitsunda

    1. Pitsunda is a resort town in the Gagra district of Abkhazia

  5. Night in Sukhum


Day 4: Wine Tour

  1. Tour vineyards and taste local Abkhazian wines


Day 5: Abandoned / Ghost Cities

  1. Tkvarchal

    1. Abkhazian abandoned ghost city

  2. Akarmara 

    1. Akarmara, an area within Tkvarchal, is a ghost town with abandoned apartments and factories which became uninhabited in the early 1990s due to the War in Abkhazia (1992-3)

  3. Olympic center in Eshera

  4. Night in Sukhum


Day 6: Transfer
